What is snaking out a line and what is a clean out? We get that question often, when I ask people, “do you have a clean out? “
Because they ask, what does it cost to snake my line? Well there are different lines. They’re branch lines, think of it like a tree trunk. That would be the main line, that’s the truck line, that would be your toilet. That’s a 4 inch line, no less then 3 1/2 inches. And greater if it’s commercial. But everything flows into the main line.
So your branch lines, thinking of a tree again, the branch lines would be your sink, your laundry, bathroom or sink kitchen sink. They all tie into the mainline, so it’s a little less money to snake the smaller line.
It’s only 2 1/2 inch in diameter and you need a smaller snake to go through those lines. You need a larger main line snake to go through the main line or the trunk line.
The benefit of a clean out is that you don’t have to bring the machine into the home. The clean out gives access from outside the property so you can run your cable and your machine stays outside and then your plumbers don’t track in anything.
They don’t have anything working inside that could be letting water come out
