Today I like to cover some do-it-yourself tips when it comes to plumbing. One in particular is when you have a pipe that’s leaking under pressure. Most likely it will be your water supply line; could be residential, could be commercial. The only real difference would be accessing the pipe, so preferably it’s above ground where you can actually see where the pin hole is. It’s typically what happens. There’s a small pinhole.
It’s a little bit bigger job if you have to trench down and get down to where the pipe is, either way, you need to have access to the pipe adequately so you can do this quick Band-Aid.
You want to use the inner tube from a bicycle tire and cut it and you would fold it over a couple times to give it some depth and cushion if you will, and then you use clamps.
Use a typical plumber clamp that you would actually put around the pipe and then twist it with a screwdriver or a box end wrench. The idea is to have the clamps over the inner tube
It can be a temporary fix for a few days, weeks or possibly a month or so, depending on how well your pinhole the clamp, or how that rubber that works as a gasket and put the seal on and that rubber takes the place as you would with your hand on a wound that had to stop the bleeding it’ll stop the water extremely well so you can get a plumber out there and you can get the plumbing replaced.
