A common problem most people seem to have is than their drain system in their home doesn’t appear to be working properly.
How does someone know if their drain system is working or not? Well, a clear indicator is that you constantly have your toilet backing up and tub could be backing up. It’s usually an obstruction line and it could be fixed fairly simply with an auger, which is a cable that you would use to help clear the blockage. That’s causing the drain not drain properly.
However, what might not be clear is a “belly in the line”. That’s where there is sagging overtime and the pipe is no longer running up and downhill, or on a gravity feet.
It has a dip in the line and water tends to accumulate there; for other solids, debris will accumulate in the belly, and prematurely, the line will get clogged.
You can still fix it with a cable, better even to hydro jet it. This clears and covers the whole circumference of the pipe, where the cable just pokes a hole through the area of concern. It allows the water to flow, but it hasn’t really cleared the line as well as it could. A blade at the end of the cable will help as well.
Overall, hydro jetting is far more significant, and a better way to go. Once the line has been cleared, you can do a video camera inspection. A good video camera inspection will help identify those bellies in the line.
There could be a breach also where there is an off set in the pipe that allows roots to come in. It could also be a disconnected line, a broken line or a rotted line as well.
To do a good video camera inspection, you must clear the line first.
